I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.
– Mahatma Gandhi
During your 28 thousand days here on earth, you will likely have a lot of questions about your existence…My beliefs matter to me, which is why I’ll never step foot in an American church again, at least not as a member.
As someone who was raised as an American Christian, it doesn’t please me at all to say what I have to say about the leadership and average church goer of today.
American Christians are violent people. If you look at Christ, he was a peaceful person who didn’t give much advocacy for the physical world. He never tried to outlaw evil like his supposed followers try to do today. When it came to the politics and laws of the state, he virtually did nothing, even when it came to physical slavery. As for Israel, who at the time was occupied by the Roman Empire, Christ nor his Apostles tried to liberate the Jews through war.
When it comes to WWJD (what would Jesus do), the American Christian is the exact opposite of Christ.
3. The Sons of the Empire (U.S) are Nationalistic
The sons of the empire (U.S) are nationalistic and bleed red, white, and blue. Too many times did I hear church goers advocating dropping bombs on other countries. The American Christian is passionate about the U.S. military, even as they trample on the constitution, murder innocent civilians (collateral damage), and impose their will on other nations, you will never hear a church goer go against this group of people.
In fact, prior to going on a mission to kill people, you will likely see them glorified by the church, as a defender of American freedom. Not an ounce of thought is given as to the justification for war or why the U.S. has 700 military bases around the world, everything the NSA, CIA, and DOD does is “good.”
Christ said in John 18:36, “My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders. But now my kingdom is from another place.”
How is it possible for church goers to claim that their kingdom is not of this world when they are so passionate about spilling blood for the USA or to defend their obsession with Israel?
2. American Church goers are Blood Thirsty
From capital punishment to the desire to outlaw sin, they want to choose your destiny with physical force. Church goers for some reason have become lovers of the State, asking it to not only outlaw sin by using force (imprisonment), but to recognize institutions of God.
When it comes to marriage, they want the State to be the one to publicly recognize it, the problem of course is the State should have no legitimacy in this matter to a real Christian. In Luke 4:5 Satan said, when it comes to the governments of the world, their authority had been given to him, he controls them. So why would any member of Christ’s kingdom look to the state for guidance or help?
Their thirst for violence doesn’t end there, many Christians are armed to the teeth ready to kill any intruder, foreign or domestic. At the last church I attended the pastors even had bodyguards, really? I thought we were supposed to accept persecution as a blessing…Again, this probably comes from the mindset of living in the empire that they so admire.
Can you imagine Jesus or even his Apostles acting like these church goers do today? Running around with the Roman flags creating coalitions to mettle in the States’ affairs? Demanding that Rome invade other countries…
1. Today’s Church goers have become Republican Whores
Quick disclaimer, as a person who believes in non-violence, I am a self-described anarchist, I say this because I want to make it clear that I have no political affiliation or admiration for any man made government.
Okay so this one is HUGE!!! Church goers will tell you that their loyalty is to Christ right? Well ask anyone of them what they think about Mormons…They will tell you that the Mormon religion is a cult, created by Satan, and one that teaches false doctrine. The priests of this religion are false teachers who are leading people to hell.
However, put one of these evil doers on a ballot box as a republican, and you will see these church goers publicly announce their support on Facebook, Twitter, with bumper stickers, and yard signs.
The 2012 election showed the church leadership to be corrupt down to the marrow, not believing a single word they spoke from the pulpit. All spiritual teachings become irrelevant as soon as it contradicted their personal politics and national pride.
I have no doubt that Matthew 7:22-23 was said with the American church in mind….
“Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name? And then I will declare to them, I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!”
If you want to follow Christ then be Christ-like, that is the true definition of becoming a Christian. For further reading Google Shane Claiborne, I think this guy gets it like no one else.
